Part 2 : Preparing
::Christmas::
So I got my acceptance. I'm living in Clive Booth Hall.
I don't know about lots of things yet but I'm on my way. But since I'm stressed out about a ton of things still:
- internet
- bus pass
- payment options
- banking
- electrical appliances
etc.
I shall not be posting until I am THERE!!

1.5 Stressed Out
Part 1 - Preparing for the Escapade
So, I have yet to get my acceptance package. Though I did get an email from Oxford-Brookes. They said they'd emailed me before but that they never got a response. Turns out their email never went through originally.
Turns out the course modules I picked weren't running this year. So I had to pick new ones. So I picked 4. Then I decided I wanted to do an anthropology one as well. So I emailed them a second time, correcting my choices.
Yeah, stressful

1.4 - Impatience
Part 1 - Preparing for the Escapade
November 7, 2009
I am beginning to get a little impatient. Not going to lie. It is November now and I still have heard nothing from Oxford Brookes about my exchange. No news on where I'm living, what courses I'm in, how much it'll cost, what I need to do for visas/banking/insurance. This is driving me absolutely crazy. Especially since they promised I'd get something by November 9th. That's Monday.
That is freaking Monday. Guaranteed I won't get it by then.
Is there some reason they have to cut this so late?
Seriously?!
*grumble*

1.3 - Email Connections and Funds
Part 1 - Preparing for the Escapade
April 21, 2009
So I emailed Cassie recently, the individual whose also going abroad with me. It turns out that because we are only going to be in Oxford for one semester we're having our living arrangements given to us. That's a great thing. Now I don't have to worry about locations, due dates and the people around me. It will probably be a community of exchange students.
It turns out there's a third person going...I'm not sure if I should send her a creepy/awkward email to let her know that there are two others. Probably would be nice for her to have some connections with people who are also going.
I'm going to have to figure out finances over the summer. Firstly I need to know how banking will work. Should I set up a bank account with a bank there? Will my bank have connections or agreements with a local bank? Will I have to live off of my credit card? (I hate using my credit card, I really do.)
Secondly I need to apply for OSAP, which is the Ontario government loan/grant fund for university students. I need to apply and they'll loan me money that's interest free until after graduation. My one room mate says I shouldn't but my parents will help me pay it back and it's not like I'm asking for a lot of money. I'll be able to pay it back. I don't have any worries about that.
Thirdly I'm applying for scholarship. I've got the one through my dad's work and another one for students on exhchange to Britain that's due in August. I'm going to be looking for more as well.
Fourthly, I'm working my ass off! Living in England is expensive and while I will be recieving some help from my parents I don't want to rely on them too heavily.
Wish me luck!
I'll be sure to keep you all updated!!

1.2 - Hand it In
March 31, 2009
Well, I handed in my application today. I have picked 5 courses, I'll probably drop one so that I have a lighter course load. Things will work out, yes they shall. I hope I have everything filled out properly. I used to worry about that. The meeting on Sunday (March 29, 2009) really cleared things up. If something's not right they'll contact me and ask me to fix it. They won't kick me out.
I'm getting really excited.
I was talking with my friend Melea today, she's going to the Semester Abroad to Poland in Fall of 2009. She's as excited as I am, though it took me a while to get to this stage. She's really lucky to be going with people she already knows, other Guelph people. I go on my own, gosh it's frightening. I'm going to have to meet new people.
>///<
But I can do it!

1.1 - Uneasiness Fading
Part 1 - Preparing for the Escapade
March 30th, 2009
Well, it's official. I'm finally excited.
I got accepted to the exchange program 3 weeks ago but I haven't been excited until now. Yesterday (March 29, 2009) I had a meeting with the CIP (Center for International Programs) that went all day. Within it all my questions and concerns were answered. Health care and insurance concerns, money and banking questions etc. Plus, I met people. Cassandra is another girl heading to the same place as me within the same time frame. And I got to talk to other people who knew things about where I was going.
Now I am excited.
My name is Julianne and in January of 2010 I am going on exchange to Oxford-Brookes University in Oxford.
I'm heading to the United Kingdom.
And it is going to be awesome!
